The wallet experiment

We often think about what is wrong with our country, and we blame our History, the Politics, the presence or absence of Natural Resources. The root is a bit deeper. We blame society without realizing society is made up of each and everyone of us. We hold the key to changing our fate. But we often feel too small, we won’t make a difference. And we all think this way, and neither of us do anything about it. Gandhi was on to something, “Be the change you want to see in the World”.

The wallet experiment shows a sad reality, that more than producing GDP, we need to produce better ethics. Being poor doesn’t justify bad decision making, or taking advantage over others, it pushes us to the Hobbesian trap, in which fear will lead to an arms race which in turn will lead to increasing fear. We are better than this (at least I believe we can be).
